Research Title : THE IMPACT OF ECO-FRIENDLY FEED ON FISH DIGESTIVE EFFICIENCY AND PHYSIOLOGICAL METABOLISM

Research summary :
As the aquaculture industry continues to expand to meet global food and ornamental fish demands, the need for sustainable feed alternatives has become increasingly urgent. This study examines the impact of eco-friendly fish feed on digestive efficiency and physiological metabolism in ornamental fish, using Carassius auratus (goldfish) as a model organism.


We hypothesize that eco-friendly feed, such as those developed by Deep and SusFeeds, can enhance nutrient assimilation and overall physiological performance without compromising growth, while also improving water quality. Goldfish were assigned to control and treatment groups under standardized conditions over a four-week period. Key performance indicators include Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), Specific Growth Ratio (SGR), nitrate and nitrite levels in the water, and overall nutrient metabolism.


Additionally, the time taken by fish to completely finish their food was measured as an indirect indicator of palatability and feeding efficiency. Faster consumption suggests higher feed acceptance and reduced uneaten residues, contributing to better water quality and reduced environmental impact.


By comprehensively evaluating these parameters, the study aims to demonstrate that eco-friendly feed not only supports efficient digestion and healthier metabolic processes but also contributes to cleaner aquaculture systems. These findings are expected to inform the development of climate-resilient, environmentally responsible aquaculture practices, supporting SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 14 (Life Below Water). Moreover, this work aligns with APEC's goals of fostering sustainable innovation and enhancing regional food security while reducing ecological footprints.
